Clear Grade Southern Pine

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””]Clear Southern Pine, is a term used to describe an actual grade.  C or Better (D grade), will be visible on the invoice and the way we place the order to the mill. While they would know what ‘clear’ pine means in Alabama, at our dimensional mill in Louisiana it needs to be more specific. What does that mean? In AL we produce heart pine using much older timber than in Louisiana where the main product is treated lumber and building materials.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Clear Grade Southern Pine” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sypdirect.net%2Fwelcome%2F|title:Welcome”][vc_column_text css=””]Clear Southern grade Pine has a formal name, C & Better, and you may see some marketing terms such as Select or Prime. In fact, those terms are 100% designed to raise the price because they offer useless information, even contradictions. You see, the word select is short for hand selected. That is not confusing but what you may not have considered is that there are no machines to detect knots or sort boards based on heart content. That being said, all Clear grade Southern Pine floors are hand selected or selected with a big metal rod in someones hand.

Clear grade Southern Pine and Heart pine are available in 1 x 4 vertical grain

Read this slowly, vertical grain Clear Pine has no heartwood or knots, vertical heart pine may have some knots and they are both only available in 1 x 4, normally. Vertical grain Clear Southern Yellow Pine is used in many things beside floors, including kitchen counters and accent walls. Vertical Grain Heart Pine which we sell with a 30-95% heartwood range truly gives back what you put into it during the finish. Wire brushing, raised grain, under coating, french bleed accents and distressing all look amazing with this version of our heart pine.

The only prime we sell

PRIME grade of Caribbean Heart Pine is uniform in color. Boards will contain a range from golden to red brown heartwood, a uniform grain when it exists and very few pin knots if any.  Prime grade is virtually clear of defects except occasional small pin knots. The color is more consistent and harmonious, with a high degree of red heartwood and limited sapwood.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”GET A SAMPLE” style=”flat” shape=”round” color=”vista-blue” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sypdirect.net%2Fsamples%2F”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

Southern Yellow Pine Direct offer homeowners the reliability of an A+ rated BBB company; the best quality, pricing and service bar none. We operate under an "old school" philosophy that the customer is always right. We make sure you are just that by educating and dispelling myths about Southern Pine and Heart Pine flooring.
Remember we are a mill to order manufacturer of unfinished and prefinished Southern Pine, including our speciality Heart Pine. Our lead times are normally about two weeks, with Hardwoods and Imports the lead times vary and that is an understatement. 2 days -2 months has bee the answer since COVID. But things are imporving, as White Oak prices continue to fall. (Jason Howard 9/9/2022)
